New Collections at Spring High Point Market Include Cross-Category Product Options
HIGH POINT, N.C. — (October 2, 2017) - High Point Market kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 14, and a variety of new collections are debuting, bringing buyers and designers new resource options for stores and studios.
According to International Market Center officials, a range of price points and cross-category introductions including furniture, home décor, lighting, rugs and accessories will be shown in numerous destinations for the first time during Market.
“Consumers have different needs, and consequently, so do buyers and designers,” said Scott Eckman, president of furniture and home décor leasing. “Notable Fall Market introductions are happening in every building, from the main IHFC buildings to Showplace, C&D, Hamilton and Suites at Market Square. Buyers looking for their tried-and-true vendors as well as new sources to add to their floors will not be disappointed.”
Three floors and more than 300 exhibitors make up the Suites at Market Square, and new collections are ubiquitous throughout the showrooms. Key highlights for Fall Market include new collections in SALON, a curated area on the Ground and Mezzanine levels at Suites, featuring upholstery, case goods and home decor offerings from Robin Baron, Bend Goods, Kenneth Cobonpue and Flitch. On the Top Floor at Suites, Cur8 debuts its online home furnishings marketplace platform, alongside The Rug Show, a debut multivendor rug collection showcasing classic, contemporary, antique and one-of-a-kind designs from renowned producers and wholesalers.
Numerous high-end collections are debuting in the Hamilton-Wrenn design district, including the latest cross-category introductions by Christopher Guy in the company’s signature showroom that opened for a soft launch at spring market. Carrying the Fifth Avenue theme further down the street, Dorya (330 N. Hamilton, 107) is introducing the Vogue Living collection, combining fashion and furnishings into a signature line for the home.
In Plaza Suites, PTS America, Inc./222 Fifth Furniture (FP C-104) is debuting a new showroom and launching a new home furnishings collection. A.R.T. Furniture (PS 200) has continued the company’s architectural repurposing story with American Chapter, a new American-themed case goods and upholstery collection. The American Chapter collection includes bedroom, dining room, occasional, and home office pieces.
“The trend towards architectural repurposing remains strong, and we’ve found that a more easygoing take on traditional really resonates with the way people are living today,” said Adam Tilley, Senior Vice President of Product and Marketing at A.R.T. Furniture. “As we looked at where to go next we realized that there was more to this story—traditional doesn’t end with European antiques.”
Vintage Furniture/iAdjust (NFM 200) is bringing a new Mexican case goods collection to National Furniture Mart, along with the company’s sleep product line, iAdjust. LaCrosse Furniture (FP-306) launches its new upholstery collection in a new pace in Furniture Plaza, while one floor up, Man Wah USA (FP 412) is debuting Fleming, a Scandinavian brand acquired by Man Wah in the spring, bringing “mid-century and urban styling” to the company’s upholstery offering.
In InterHall, Adriana Hoyos (IH-404) is returning to High Point Market for the first time in several years. Company officials said that Hoyas, an international design icon, will debut upholstery and case goods “rooted in her South American heritage” and redefined for American and international markets.
Maggie Cruz Home (Interhall IH-200) is launching its inaugural upholstery/case goods/occasional collection in Interhall for fall market after a soft launch in spring. Officials said that Cruz’s “Cuban heritage and Miami upbringing” inspired the line, reminiscent of “Old Havana, heyday Miami circa 1980s, historic old Florida and mid-century modern.” Also debuting new showrooms and collections in InterHall are Company C, Percy Gray, Serge de Troyer Collection and The Robert Allen Duralee Group.
Gus Modern (IHFC H-512) partnered with Pendleton for a new collection of chairs that combines modern frame designs with Native American textile aesthetics. Also in IHFC, Barcalounger Outdoor and Pacific Casual (H-633) are introducing new outdoor collections, offering product in a high-demand consumer category.
An additional outdoor source, Padma’s Plantation (C&D 5L), is debuting a new showroom and product line in the C&D building. Nearby, Urban Chic (C&D 4N) also debuts in C&D, offering a mix of furniture, artwork, lighting and textiles.
The signature architecture of Showplace provides the backdrop for new collections by Brayden & Brooks (3446), Couristan Inc. (2350), John Beard Collection (3424) and Wexel Art Displays (2335). Featuring accent furniture, home décor, wall art and rugs, the new showrooms expand Showplace’s five-floor product line-up with first-time-to-market introductions.
TrendWatch, IMC’s proprietary trends forecast program, is presenting three design directions for fall: Code, Complements and Curation. Codes presents a studied approach to modern-day connectivity and the comforts of home. Complements emphasizes complementary colors and near complements, including blue/orange and green/violet combinations. Curation presents a maximalist decorating aesthetic, the more-is-more contrast of the minimalism movement.
Fall High Point Market runs from Saturday, Oct. 14 - Wednesday, Oct. 18. Showroom hours are 8am-7pm Saturday-Tuesday; and 8am-5pm on Wednesday.
