High Point Market is full of countless highlights, and Jan Showers’s second furniture collection with Kravet Furniture is high up on the list. Dallas-based designer Showers has created a tight-knit collection of 16 chairs, sofas, tables, desks, and benches that are neutral in color but packed with personality. Think brass- and glass-topped nesting tables, armless chairs, a simple wooden side table, and leather-upholstered stools in key lime–green. The designer has traveled the word—from flea markets in Paris to adventures in Africa—in search of unique antiques and vintage pieces. And ultimately, this classic collection responds to those journeys and discoveries. “I love details and special pieces of furniture that look as though they are one of a kind,” Showers tells AD PRO. “Every single piece was inspired from vintage and antiques I have found over the years.”

The impetus for Showers to create a furniture collection came when her clients kept asking for seamless, streamlined pieces that she couldn’t source or find elsewhere. “My design projects influence every single decision I make when creating these collections," Showers explains, noting that she continuously asks herself throughout the process, "Would they like it and will they buy it?” When placing these pieces in someone’s home, the trick is to find effortless pairings that make sense in the space. Showers loves the three-seat tufted Desmond sofa with the raffia CZ chair and ottoman (offered as a standard option) and the velvet upholstered Tolbert sofa with the brass, stone, and wood Anders coffee table. (Both combinations would work well with most clients’ living room aesthetic, according to Showers.) “I make sure that each piece will mix with many periods and styles so it’s a cohesive story.”

Finding the right manufacturing partner for the furniture was essential for the designer, who also produces lines of hand-knotted and cowhide rugs and free-blown glass lighting. “At Kravet, I truly feel a part of the family,” Showers says of the collaboration, which began in 2016. “I adore working with their wonderful creative teams—they are talented and lots of fun.” What is she most pleased about with this collection? “I must say that the finishes are so well executed; I am very proud of that.”
